🇮🇹 Named ‘Lacrima’—Italian for ‘tear’—due to its thin skin that tends to ‘weep’ droplets of juice when ripe, this ancient varietal was on the brink of extinction until it achieved DOC status in 1985, sparking a revival.
Cantina Mazzola, a boutique winery in Marche, embodies the region’s winemaking heritage. Their ‘Crinale Nordest’ is a testament to this legacy—a fragrant red wine exuding aromas of wild roses, berries, and a hint of sea breeze, reflecting vineyards nestled near the Adriatic coast. This winery is organic , they use indigenous yeast and no chemicals are used in the winemaking process, resulting in a very fragrant refreshing style, with very low tannins, that pairs well with spicy seafood pasta dishes or with Ciauscolo a spreadable salami from the region ! 🥂
